Why volunteer?

People want to volunteer for a variety of reasons. Be it giving back to the society, making a difference in the life of under privileged children, helping in making the environment clean etc., the fundamental reason for volunteering is the eagerness to help.

Volunteering gives you a great opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of people in need, be it need for education, knowledge, affection etc. Spending a few hours with under privileged children who are in abject poverty and sometimes orphaned, helps in building/changing their view of the world and also imbibes good values in them. Similarly spending a few hours with old people who are in need of help and affection would provide them a lot of motivation to wake up the next day morning with enthusiasm.

Volunteering is not only giving back. It helps you improve your own self confidence and self esteem. In this extremely busy world, it is a huge stress buster. For some, it even helps in enhancing the chance for employment. It helps you in interacting and working with a group of like minded people, who could be from various educational, cultural and social backgrounds. It basically helps you to expand your network base, some of whom can turn out to be your good friends for lifetime. Volunteering helps you in understanding your local community better. If you love trees or animals, volunteering in helping plant more trees or helping in an animal welfare shelter, will give you great happiness. Above all, volunteering in any form that your are interested in, gives you a tremendous sense of satisfaction, meaningful purpose and fulfillment in life.
